Speech Sounds
The University of Iowa Departments of Spanish and Portuguese, German, Speech Pathology and Audiology, and Academic Technologies have collaborated to create a site containing animated libraries of phonetic sounds in English, German, and Spanish. In our speech production work at Half Day School, we utilize this site to help students become familiar with basic speech production anatomy and physiology. Students enjoy watching the animations to better understand how their sounds are produced. Just for fun, we may even take a look at some of the German or Spanish sounds to see how different sounds can be from language to language.
